Introduction to role
Do you have expertise in information technology and a passion for secure, scalable SAP solutions? Would applying that expertise to build IT strategy in a science-led organisation that turns ideas into life-changing medicines be exciting? In this Consultant – SAP Security GRC Access Control role, chip in to a global SAP landscape, solving sophisticated security challenges, building reusable products and driving automation across ECC, S/4HANA, BW and Fiori. Work with complementary teams, experiment with modern technologies and help transform how SAP Security is delivered worldwide!
Accountabilities
In this role, act as a catalyst within a global SAP support and transformation environment, resolving security and authorisation issues across multiple SAP platforms while ensuring compliance with control objectives and standards. Engage with business users and technical teams to assemble requirements, analyse needs and build robust security solutions that align with end-to-end business processes.
Deliver enhancements, support system upgrades and transformations, and handle post–go-live activities to keep critical systems secure and available. Take ownership of SAP GRC processes, including Access Risk Analysis, Access Request Management and Business Role Management, preparing and handling SOx reports and responding to audit queries. Beyond day-to-day security operations, identify repetitive or systemic challenges and design scalable tools, automations and dashboards that address them across SAP and non-SAP platforms.
Use data from SAP systems to generate actionable insights, chip in to accelerators and reusable frameworks, and explore emerging technologies such as AI/ML, SAP BTP and IAG to enhance security operations. Collaborate across functions to drive continuous improvement, challenge existing approaches and embed a product-oriented attitude into SAP Security delivery.
Essential Skills/Experience
- In-depth SAP Security understanding in ECC, BI/BW, GRC, S/4 HANA & Fiori
- Well versed with foundational Security concepts of various business processes (FI, CO, MM, SD etc)
- In-depth understanding of SAP role design and segregation of duties (SoD)
- In-depth understanding of Fiori authorization concepts, UI/UX aspects with SAP Security Space (Pages & Spaces, App Support)
- Experience in designing roles for hub & embedded deployment of S/4 HANA
- Hands-on experience in configuration of GRC Access Control modules (ARA, ARM, ARA & BRM)
- Hands-on experience in handling SoD ruleset (Create, operate & maintain)
- Hands-on experience on Security activities for SAP system upgrade/transformation
- Very good understanding of integration of SAP modules in End-to-end business processes
- Ability to understand business requirements from business users and prepare functional specifications, prepare test scenarios inclusive of security design, support during various test phases, perform cutover activities & post launch support
- Fix authorization issues across ECC & S/4 (Fiori & HANA DB)
- Understanding of ITIL processes, activate methodology
- Proactive approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work in large and complementary teams
- Good communication in English (spoken & written) and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work in shifts and from office premise
- Product & Technical Attitude
- Ability to think beyond tickets and identify patterns, inefficiencies, and opportunities for automation
- Experience or strong interest in building tools, scripts, or solutions using technologies such as Python, APIs, or data analytics
- Familiarity with working on data extraction, analysis, and visualization from SAP or related systems
- Proven attitude of “build once, scale many times”
- Curiosity and willingness to explore new technologies and approaches
Desirable Skills/Experience
- SAP S/4HANA certification
- Exposure to SAP BTP, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP IAG
- Experience in SOx report automation or audit analytics
- Exposure to Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA
- Experience with SAP Solution Manager and testing tools
- Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts or data-driven decision-making
